Used SX-70 Alpha 2 does nothing when film inserted

Postby Grifterwc » Thu 21 January 2021 / 15:27 pm

Hi there, I have a SX-70 Alpha 2 that I purchased and when it arrived I put in film but its dead. It does nothing, no sound of gears turning or the black cover coming out. I have cleaned the heads at the back that the film pack touches for power with a nail file and some cleaning agents. Does anyone have any other insight of what I can try.

I was told the ESB could be dead... if so would I be able to replace it easily with a spare camera that I have for repairs?

Thanks a bunch for any insight!!

Hi Grifterwc,
When was the pack you bought?

The film pack is recent, its an empty pack from another sx-70 I have. When I put it into my working sx-70, it makes the noise as if its pushing out film. but in the used camera I purchased, nothing.

Wait for the response from anyone who knows it better than me, but personally I only see a connection problem, check if there is not a broken strip in case, otherwise you can send your polaroid to retrospekt or Brooklyn film camera for repair
