Sx-70 hinge repair

Postby americanprospecting » Thu 27 February 2014 / 20:03 pm

Just got in an sx-70 model 3. I received it with a bent hinge, and it would not open. I carefully brought the hinge back to its original shape and reset the spring. The only problem is that the little rivet popped out. I twisted a piece of solder to act as a temporary rivet, but I need to fix it. Any ideas? Image

Weelll, Model 3's are bad news...

...unless it's sentimental, don't waste your time. Because it's not an SLR, nobody buys 'em.
The broken plastic doesn't help, either.

That said, it's too bad some people spent a ton of money on these (any of the folders) back in the day and couldn't take the time to get deep-enough into the instructions to figure out how to close the camera - that strut probably got bent by someone trying to smash it down.

I'm not much a fan of the model 3s either. I have a couple model 2s and mountains of 600s. Probably going to have to get rid of it as is. Not too much of a shame. Just sucks that such a tiny piece prevents it from functioning as it should. The twisted solder broke, and that hole is just mocking me
