Polaroid SX-70 Shutter problem??

Postby Kaze » Mon 03 September 2012 / 20:22 pm

Hi, after the first film pack in my SX-70 I just tried another one yesterday and was surprised that I didn't see anything through the viewfinder, except darkness. The pictures are ejected with nothing but some irregular lightpoints. I recognized something behind the front lens, like a "curtain" with a little gap on one side (the left side, if you look from the front side). Can this be the shutter which is not opening any more?
If so, is there anything I can do to make it work again?

Thanks for help!

Do you have a fresh cartridge in the camera and did you try a manual cycle?

It might be an issue wtih the shutter. You could try to take off the front cover of the camera to get access to the shutter mechanism, remove the focussing wheel by unscrewing the the screw and move the latch into the coil which activate the shutter.
